Waldcafé Thalersee / Graz

steel, aluminium sheet, thermo-ash

The picturesque Thalersee to the west of Graz has always been a popular destination for city dwellers. The new Waldcafé Thalersee has found its new tenants in the form of the gastro-professionals and owners of the WIRRs and Adlerhof in Vienna. In collaboration with Gerd Zehetner from the architectural office Archiguards, an ambitious project was once again set in motion for the furnishing of the lakeside terrace. A total of twenty-six table/bench combinations now adorn the shore of the bathing lake. Constructively simple, the soft lines of the basic construction interpret the symmetrical profile of the basically banal shape of a snack table. At their ends, pairs of runners curved in soft radii form the receptacle for the seats - centrally arranged bars open conically upwards, thus providing sufficient legroom and supporting the individual elements of the table surface, which were made of specially folded aluminum sheets and powder-coated in accordance with a large-scale color concept.
